Hey, welcome to my page! There’s a good chance we met at a show, on stage, in an airport, or maybe out in the lineup waiting for a wave. However you found your way here, I’m glad you did.

I’m Melissa, a singer-songwriter originally from the Alabama/Florida Gulf Coast, now calling the East Coast home. I grew up singing in a roadhouse on the state line and cut my teeth by playing shows all over the Gulf Coast. My style was heavily influenced from my time in the Mississippi Delta. I spent a lot of time in juke joints while in college and it morphed my classical training into the blues style you hear today.

Those places taught me a lot about music, people, and how to tell a story.

Music has taken me to more than 30 countries and into some pretty unexpected adventures. Along the way, I’ve produced shows that worked with National Geographic and PBS and served as the music coordinator on a cruise ship in Australia. Traveling has been a huge part of my life, and I’m always curious about the next place and the people I’ll meet there.

These days, some of that curiosity has turned toward what I can build closer to home. I founded the Songs That Save Foundation, and we’re putting on our very first Myrtle Beach Songwriters Festival this year. Bringing artists and our community together around music has been one of the coolest things I’ve ever been part of.

Through all of it, my first love has always been songwriting. If you dig around this page, you’ll find plenty of it—and I’m heading into the winter ready to start working on a new album.

When I’m not making music or planning a festival, there’s a good chance I’m surfing, dreaming up another trip, or enjoying a good cup of tea.

Take a look around, listen to a few songs, and hopefully I’ll see you somewhere along the way.
